Chapter 11 of 13
Trial, buying and licenses
Lattika is sold directly, not through the App Store. You try it for 14 days, buy a license key once, and enter it in the app.
The trial
The trial starts the first time Lattika runs and lasts 14 days. Every feature works. The menu shows Trial ends in N days, and Settings › License shows the end date.
When the trial ends, Lattika stops moving windows: Shift-drag shows no zones, the shortcuts, rules, window memory and workspaces do nothing, and the menu shows Trial ended. Everything else keeps working. Your layouts, rules and workspaces are kept, and you can still edit them.
The trial's start date is stored in the macOS Keychain, so deleting and reinstalling the app does not start a new trial.
Buying
Choose Buy Lattika… in Settings › License, or click the trial line in the menu. Either opens https://lattika.com/buy in your browser. The price and what the license covers are on that page. A license is a one-time purchase for one person, and the number of Macs it covers is stated at checkout.
The checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy. After paying you receive an email with your license key. The key looks like XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX.
Entering a key
- Open Settings › License.
- Paste the key into the field and click Activate or press Return.
- Lattika contacts the license server once, so you need an internet connection for this step. After a moment the pane shows Licensed, the product name and when the license was last verified.
Activating uses one of the seats on your license for this Mac.
Moving to a new Mac
On the old Mac, open Settings › License and click Deactivate…. This frees the seat. Then activate the key on the new Mac.
If the old Mac is gone, write to support with your key and the seat is freed for you.
Offline use
Once activated, Lattika checks the license about once a week. If the server cannot be reached, nothing changes: the license keeps working for 14 days after the last successful check. After that Lattika shows License problem and stops moving windows until it can verify the key again. Connect to the internet and open Settings › License.
The trial works entirely offline.
Refunds
The refund policy is on the terms page at https://lattika.com/terms. Write to support with your order email to ask for one.
If it does not work
- "Could not reach the license server". You are offline, or a firewall blocks
api.lemonsqueezy.com. Connect and try again. - "The license key was not accepted". Check for a typo or an extra space. Copy the key from the email again.
- "This key belongs to a different product". The key is for something else sold by the same store.
- "This license is disabled" or "expired". The license was refunded or disabled. Write to support if you think that is wrong.
- Activation fails because all seats are used. Deactivate Lattika on a Mac you no longer use, or write to support.
- "The license is no longer valid for this Mac". The seat was freed elsewhere, for example by deactivating from another Mac. Activate again.
